Vintage holiday records at Adult Swim: Holiday Craftacular

Madison Children’s Museum isnt’ just for children. Sometimes they kick the kids out and let the adults play. That’s the intention of their Adult Swim events.

On December 9, I was invited by my friend Cynthia Schuster to play records for the children’s museum’s holiday event. What a joy to haul out all of my favorite vintage Christmas records and share them with the folks who attended the Holiday Craftacular!

Cynthia’s holiday record collection is no joke. She has been collecting retro Christmas season songs for years to feature in her annual Heavy Petting Zoo Holiday Sing-a-Long Spectacular on WSUM-FM. It’s worth setting a reminder in your calendar to tune into her show on Saturday nights from 7-9 p.m. She has an enviable collection of big band and jazz that she shares as “make out music and more.”

Old records set a special mood of nostalgia which sparks a familiar twinkle in people’s eyes. Big thanks to the Madison Children’s Museum for taking a chance on vintage vinyl for their holiday party.
