Wisconsin Historical Society celebrates 30 years of Wisconsin's state dance with a polka party

DJ Shotski holds records at an event to celebrate Wisconsin's state dance

Wisconsin Historical Society, DJ Shotski and DB Polka Express celebrated three decades of Wisconsin’s State Dance at downtown Madison’s History Maker Space during a one-of-a-kind polka party!

The night was memorable for the music, community and appreciation of our state’s history. I played vintage polka records and an all-Wisconsin artist set. DB Polka Express played lively tunes that got the crowd dancing. Randy and Ashley Thull showed off their exceptional talent in a polka dance demonstration.

We shared the news that Governor Evers signed a proclamation that April 21 is Wisconsin Polka Day in honor of the 30th anniversary of our state dance. Wisconsin Historical Society curated a pop-up exhibit of photos of polka history and fueled everyone up with good food and drinks.

State of Wisconsin proclamation signed by Governor Evers that April 21 is Wisconsin Polka Day

Big thanks to the Wisconsin Historical Society for throwing a great party in honor of the anniversary of our state’s dance.
