Prost! Sömerfest

DJ Shotski holds up a boot of German beer at Prost! Sömerfest

Prost!, Madison’s best Munich-style bierhall, threw a block party on June 22 to welcome summer with polka music and German food and drinks.

Rainstorms threatened the party all day, so I started off playing polka music indoors during lunchtime. We eventually made our way outside when the weather looked clear. In the afternoon, DB Polka Express rocked the Prost! patio with lively tunes that featured tuba-lovers’ delights and some serious alphorn action. A big storm rolled in right at the last minute and we had to scurry to take cover, but we partied outside for as long as we could!

Thanks to Prost! for jumping through lots of hurdles to launch their first block party. Hopefully there will be many more in the future as we bring the Munich biergarten spirit to Madison.
