Polka! Press Party at Dark Horse ArtBar
I love Polka! Press. Not just because of its name. Polka! Press is Madison’s screen printing cooperative and is a great way for those who are curious about printing and experienced artists to have access to the equipment they need to print art.
Stars aligned when Polka! Press planned their summer open house. They wanted to welcome Madisonians to learn more about what they do. They picked a date that was also National Polka Day. And Dark Horse ArtBar had an open spot on their music calendar. Prompted by a mention of my friend Eric in a conversation with a cooperative member long ago, Polka! Press invited me to play records.
This was a great event. It was free for people to visit and browse artwork or get a good cocktail. It was a small venue with a great vibe. Dark Horse’s experience with events and live music made my job easy.
And of course it was a great night to see friends and watch how polka music naturally makes people dance and be happy.
I’m plotting to do another event at Dark Horse. Be the first to know about it by signing up for DJ Shotski e-newsletters on the homepage.
