Milwaukee Krampusnacht

Another dream gig happened this month. On December 1, I got to play polka records in the Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery in Milwaukee for Krampusnacht. Having vintage polka music playing in the background of an enormous Krampus party in Milwaukee was unsurprisingly a great fit. The highlight was playing the Li’l Wally Pabst Blue Ribbon Polka in the place where PBR was born.

What is Krampusnacht?

Krampus is a folkloric monster of Alpine tradition. Children are told that goodly Saint Nick will reward them with treats if they are good, but if they are bad they will be visited by the hideous Krampus. Krampusnacht is the festival held before the Feast of St. Nicholas to remind kids to behave. In modern practice, it’s a great time to have a lively parade and party with wild costumes and great music to scare away the winter blues.
