DJ Shotski returned to the Malt House on June 15

June 2023 marks the 15th anniversary of Madison’s Malt House. This year is also the 30th anniversary of River Alliance of Wisconsin, a statewide nonpartisan and nonprofit organization that empowers people to protect and restore water.

Good beer needs clean water. That’s why Bill Rogers, Malt House owner, polka fan and avid paddler, threw his anniversary party as a benefit for River Alliance.

I played polka records on the Malt House patio which was an anniversary of sorts. Bill let me play polka records for the first time on that patio on Memorial Day weekend of 2021 when we were all newly vaccinated and beginning to gather outside again. It was good to be back with even better records to share.

AND folks stopped by to donate polka records too! Big thanks to Bob and Casey for sharing their vinyl finds which I played on Polka Time in the following weeks.

After the polka party was live music by The Stop & Listen string band. People danced and gave generously through a silent auction and raffle. Polka music and the Malt House biergarten patio went really well together!
