DJ Shotski and WVMO receive top Wisconsin Broadcasters’ Awards honors

On May 4, the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association gave radio and television stations awards of excellence. Not only did WVMO-FM — the home station of Polka Time with DJ Shotski — receive the Large Market Radio Station of the Year award and top recognition for our 48-hour Vinylthon event, but I was pleased to receive the top Online Personality award.

The award was an honor that I share with everyone who participated in activities around the 30th anniversary of polka becoming our state dance. If you held an event, came to the Wisconsin Historical Society polka party in Madison, did a news segment, posted something creative to social media, or tuned in to the two-hour Polka Time special, thank you.

I’m proud to be involved with a growing community-powered radio station that is a wonderful asset to the City of Monona and Madison’s east side.
